The New York Times recently ran a series of articles detailing some of the problems with the nation’s drinking water. Their findings provided a unique perspective into how, regardless of laws like the Clean Water Act, drinking water can contain harmful chemicals that can cause illness and disease.
The reports estimated that millions of Americans have been exposed to water that contained harmful chemicals.
In response to these reports, the Water Quality Association (WQA), a non-profit organization that provides information about water treatment issues, issued a press statement reminding consumers that they have options when it comes to water quality.
“Filtering systems in the home provide the highest technology available to treat drinking water,” said Peter J. Censky, executive director of WQA. “Less than two percent of all water consumed is ingested by humans, making these ‘point-of-use’ systems the most cost effective and environmentally friendly available.”
So even if the drinking water that enters your home is contaminated, home filtering systems can provide additional measures to remove contaminants.
“Home filtering systems act as a final contaminant barrier and can further purify water for drinking,” Censky said.
Companies like WaterFilters.NET have dozens of options for consumers that best meet their individual needs. Some families will prefer a simple water filter system, while other families—and businesses—will prefer a more elaborate reverse osmosis system. Regardless, they can help you determine the best option for your situation.
Jeremy Nelson, marketing manager for WaterFilters.NET, said, “We regularly see reports like the recent Times series and want consumers to know they have options—safe, affordable and effective options.”
