Today is World Water Day; a day to bring attention to the big challenges we face in ensuring that the people of the world have the safe water they need to live. Here are some of the great online resources available to get informed and involved.
The documentary film “Tapped” is celebrating World Water Week “because one day isn’t enough.” The director and producer of the film are embarking on a “Get Off The H2O” truck tour, driving across the country asking people to pledge to reduce their bottled water use. The Story of Bottle Water by the The Story of Stuff Project in an interesting video presenting some interesting data points:
- Bottle water is typically less regulated than tap water
- Tap water is preferred over bottled water in taste tests
- Bottled water costs 2,000 times the price of tap water
- Many of the big bottled water brands use filtered tap water
- 80% of plastic water bottles end up in landfills or incinerators
